My name is Caitlin Smith and I am honored and incredibly excited to be your child’s teacher this year! It is going to be an awesome year, with lots of learning and adventures in store. I cannot wait to get to know you and your family this year, but let me start off by telling you a few things about me.
I am a University of California Santa Barbara graduate and received my teaching credential from California State University Northridge’s Accelerated Collaborative Teaching Program. In my spare time I love to travel, hike, and play board games with my friends and family. I grew up as an Air Force brat, and despite eleven moves, one thing always remained constant: my love of learning and desire to become a teacher. This will be my fourth year teaching and my third year teaching Kindergarten. Teaching Kindergarten is my dream job!
Living in so many places throughout my childhood exposed me to many cultures and experiences, and greatly impacted my educational philosophy. I believe that teaching starts and ends with the students. Every student can learn, and has the ability to love learning if supported and encouraged in the right ways. Students learn best when their teachers instill in them a love of learning that leads to self-efficacy and self- responsibility. This year I will try to model what it is to love learning, be innately curious, and to be a good and caring citizen of this world. I hope to help your child develop into an open communicator, an upstanding, involved citizen, and lifelong learner.
I truly believe that a strong parent-teacher relationship is crucial for a successful school year. I encourage you to contact me if you have any questions or concerns at any time. The best way to reach me is via email at [email protected].
My goal is not only to prepare your child for the next grade, but also to stimulate his/her intellectual, social, and developmental growth. I am excited about the opportunity to get to know you, and am looking forward to an exciting and productive school year.
